Papers, 1840-1880.

The collection is divided into two components. The first is a set of translations and transcriptions done by O'Callaghan of colonial English and Dutch documents. These transcripts are in O'Callaghan's hand and many contain marginal notations. A second component of the collection is correspondence from a variety of individuals including historians, genealogists, scholars and persons interested in colonial New York State history. The correspondence deals with research questions, subscriptions to O'Callaghan's publications and translations of colonial documents.
